[...] Woo-hoo, I hate formality. Since becoming a Full Time Entrepreneur i have only worn long trousers and socks once (actually it is one-and-a-half because I recently went to a wedding but forgot to take my socks so ended up in suit, shoes, but no socks). I think any relationship works best when there is human-to-human connection behind them. [...]

I would like to quit my job but I am not the risk prome. Right now I work full time but do have 3 days off a week. Hopefully in a year or 2 I will be able to quit my dead end job.

Hi Dominic: We've got three young children, and the ever-looming mortgage. Packing in the day job to become a full-time web designer would be ideal, but even thinking of the risk makes me break out in a sweat.

You're a brave man, and I hope your venture works out for you and your family. Maybe I'll be joining the entrepreneurial ranks later this year too!

Well done Dominic. It is a difficult thing to do and your cashflow is something you have to give a lot of attention to. Having said that think of the example you are giving your kids - I have two young children and I have regular conversations with the older one about business generally and my business specifically.

I hope 2006 is successful for you :-)

Congratulations Dominic! I too have kids and a wife to take care of. It is my dream to quit the 9 to 5 and do only freelance work. The only way to get ahead is to be in business for yourself. The hardest part about it is that you have to be making alot more money on your side projects before you can quit the day job. Maybe we can start some sort of co-op blog for dads who want to be entrepreneurs.

[...] Dominic Foster has officially gone full time as an entrepreneur in 2006. This is a particularly brave move for him given he has a few ahh, commitments, including children and a mortgage. As proud as I am of being a full time internet business entrepreneur I only have to look after myself at this point in time so I don’t look quite as daring. Congratulations Dominic, I hope everything goes well for you! [...]
