Forums are here
August 3, 2005 on 12:28 pm | In 31 Days to a Better Blog, Blog Housekeeping, Blogging, Forums | 2 CommentsWhen you are interested in a certain topic it is great to hear of ideas and opinions from like minded people. I for one like nothing more than wasting my time surfing web forums on topics like Web Design, Programing Computers, Software Business and Stock Trading.
Forum posts can be fascinating reads and sometimes generate enough content to generate a sub website in itself. Check out this one about someones quest to make $300 a day on his affiliate web sites.
A few blogs I subscribe to have posted on the topic of adding forums to websites and how they can enhance the user experience while adding value to the website as a whole
- Marshall Brain writes about Building a Forum Community on this WebKEW blog. He quotes and article that says that building a Forum Community “is a great way to increase sales, customer loyalty and word of mouth for your web business”. Marshall goes on to describe the ease with which the forum environment can be set up.
- Venturus blogs about How To Build A Popular and Profitable Forum Community, saying that “Commonly people use a web forum as the centre point for a web community” but going on to state that there can be a lot of hard work to administer such a project.
- An interesting post that Paul Allen blogged about a while ago is that comunity style websites are some of the fastest growing on the net. (sorry no link to the post, it has dissapeared from my news reader and I can’t find a search facility on Paul’s website).
So, I have now enabled my Forums section of this site. I have added forums for some of the stuff I have blogged about over the last few days. Take some time to go and check it out. Also, it would be cool if you could add some posts to the forums and we can see how they develop over the next 28 days.
Gosh!! do I only have 28 days left to make my blog better???? How time flies.
Get posting - I’ve set up a Blog Category for following the progress of this part of my project. And plan to blog frequently about any changes I make to the Forum setup, layout and unspecific other stuff which could help people set up their own forums.
