How often do we kid ourselves that the mistakes we make - and unfavourable situations in which we find ourselves - are due to urgency?

Have you ever had to stay up late to fill out a tax form because it is due the next day and you will have to pay a $100 penalty if it is late? Did you stay up because you told yourself it was urgent? It was not urgent - you could have done it last week when you had a spare couple of hours. And filed it on the internet during the ad break in Desperate Housewives.
