Contact Form

I’ve been having a great day jotting ideas in my notebook to make my Blog Better in 31 Days.

I’ve also been enjoying seeing some more visitors to my blog. 49 distinct hosts and 333 page requests today… woo-hoo.

One thing I realised that I was missing though was a Contact Me form.

There is a really easy way to do this. You just add a link to you html somewhere on your site which goes something like this:

mailto:me@myblog.com

However there is a big problem with this. You will probably get a whole heap of spam mail with nasty attachments that want to do evil things to your computer. I once had a site with a mailto on it and wondered why I was getting so much spam. I took it off my site and the spam suddenly stopped.

A good way to take care of contact email on your site is to set up a Contact Form which handles the whole thing for you and looks rather good sitting on your Contact Me web page.

And here’s the good news (if you are blogging on Wordpress): Ryan Duff has developed a Wordpress plugin that takes care of the whole thing and can be downloaded at his website.

So go ahead, Contact Me and let me know how everything is going with your blogging. I’d also like to hear about what you think about my 31 Days to Building a Better Blog project.

Also, If you are blogging with software apart from Wordpress, perhaps you could comment with a link on how to set it up on the software you are using.
