31 Days to Building a Better Blog

July 31, 2005 on 6:01 pm | In Blogging |

I noticed in my RSS reader this morning a post at Pro Blogger that Darren Rowse is going to post 31 tips on how to make your blog better.

This has inspired me to make August 2005 the month that I shall apply tips that I read around the web to direct more traffic to Dominic Foster and my Nicola Darvas websites.

I shall update this site as frequently as possible with applied ideas.

In fact, one of the reasons I have started blogging is that I believe that it is a good way to motivate myself. If I blog that I am going to do something, then I feel more obliged to do it. So, I invite people to add comments with ideas which could extend each of my efforts to direct traffic here - and my failing to carry out my months objectives.

I blogged on Friday that by simply congratulating someone on their new website delivered 30 distinct hosts here. Let’s see what else can be achieved over the next 31 days.

  2. […] So, I was thinking about buying a little notebook for this purpose. While thinking, I remembered that at the end of 2002, I bought an A5 day planner diary. It was in a moment of ‘I must get my life organised’ efficiency. Luckily my “get my life together for 2003″ crash landed on the 1st of January, so I now have a “only used once” day planner in which I can happily jot down my ideas for 31 days to building a better blog. Viele sind dem Aufruf bereits gefolgt und wollen Ihr eigenes Blog innerhalb dieser Zeit verbessern. Dominic hat zum Beispiel festgestellt, dass es ihn 30 Besucher brachte, in einem Forum einem anderen Forenmtitglied zu seiner Software und Webseite zu gratulieren. […]

  6. Hi Dominic,

I am totally new to blogging and there is much for me to learn. So I am looking forward to reading your post.

I don’t understand how to set-up the RSS reader, so that I can get updates from people.

But, please keep the good stuff rolling and I will pop in often.

  7. Hi Alex,

I use Sharpreader to view RSS - it requires MS Windows and the .Net framework. You can download it at http://www.sharpreader.net/ - it has instructions on how to subscribe to RSS feeds.

    Thanks for the comment.
